Why patients choose sedation with us

When fear is the main reason treatment keeps being postponed, sedation removes that barrier so the work can go ahead. We are a CQC-registered dental practice led by Dr Sodeinde, and every case starts with specialist-led planning. You can read what happens at your sedation consultation and how to book.

Your first visit is straightforward. The £195 consultation fee includes a clinical examination and the in-mouth x-rays needed for a first diagnosis. Every fee is itemised before you commit, so the number you see on the page is the number the appointment costs.

Fees and what they cover

Cost is often the first worry for anyone who has avoided the dentist. We start with a diagnosis, so you pay only for the care you need. The £195 dental consultation fee goes towards your treatment. We offer payment options, which our staff will explain at the practice. View our full sedation dentistry costs.

Clinical safety and sedation protocols

We offer IV sedation and oral sedation in the practice, nitrous oxide sedation for children, and general anaesthesia through a hospital pathway for patients who cannot be treated under conscious sedation. Sedation is administered by appropriately trained clinicians.

Every case begins with a full medical history and a sedation assessment. We monitor you throughout the appointment and you stay in the practice until the effects have worn off. You can view the credentials of Dr Ope Sodeinde, GDC-registered specialist periodontist (GDC No. 104071), who leads the practice.

Before you leave we give you written aftercare instructions. A responsible adult must take you home, and you must not drive or operate machinery for at least 24 hours after sedation.

Common questions about sedation

What does dental sedation involve?

We give you a sedative in a controlled dose so you feel calm during treatment. With conscious sedation you stay awake and can respond to us, but the appointment feels manageable.

How much does dental sedation cost in London?

The fee depends on the type of sedation and the dental work involved. You get a clear breakdown at your first visit to the practice in Primrose Hill.

Am I suitable for dental sedation?

Sedation suits patients with dental anxiety, a sensitive gag reflex, or a long procedure ahead of them. We check your medical history at the consultation before confirming the approach.

How long does a sedated appointment take?

It depends on the treatment. The sedative takes effect quickly, and the total time includes the procedure and a recovery period before you leave with your responsible adult.

The hygienist also wanted to make me feel reassured and confident and I left much less anxious.

What sedation dentistry is

Sedation dentistry uses medication to reduce anxiety and keep you relaxed while we treat you. It also lets us complete several treatments, or one long one, in a single visit. The options are nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for children, oral sedation, IV sedation, and referral for general anaesthesia in hospital when conscious sedation is not enough.

We confirm which option suits you, and how long the appointment will take, at an examination. Book your assessment.

Ways to manage dental anxiety

You can compare the methods and decide which sedation option fits your own situation.

Deep relaxation for complex care

For significant anxiety or longer clinical work we provide IV sedation.

Moderate anxiety

Oral sedation is a tablet taken before the appointment. For children we provide nitrous oxide sedation, often called laughing gas.

Sedation for extractions

Removing impacted teeth is a common source of worry, so we offer sedation for wisdom teeth removal.

Comparing your sedation options

The methods range from nitrous oxide, the mildest, to IV sedation, the deepest we provide in the practice. Whether you need oral sedation or intravenous sedation depends on your anxiety level and the length of the treatment.
